Wellmune WGP is a homoglucose polysaccharide
purified from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Baker’s
yeast) that has been recognized since the 1960s
to function as an immunomodulator with clinically
useful antitumor, hematopoietic and anti-infective
properties.
Particulate
and soluble preparations of the company’s
proprietary beta glucans are highly purified
from yeast cell walls in a series of processes
that include the removal of lipids, proteins
and cell membrane.
Wellmune WGP binds to specific receptors present on
human innate immune cells, neutrophils and tissue
macrophages, causing enhancement of tumoricidal
and microbial killing activity (measured by
a number of parameters including phagocytosis,
oxidative burst, and tumor killing activity)
of these cell types as well as stimulating the
proliferation of bone marrow stem cells.
