Horn Company Selected By Cargill Foods as Exclusive
Distributor of Lecithin Products in Western
States

Mirada, CA – June 25, 2004 -
The E.T. Horn Company, a leading distributor/supplier
of food ingredients and specialty chemicals,
today announced that it has agreed to enter
into an agreement with Cargill
to represent its line of soy lecithin throughout
the western United States.
The
E.T. Horn Company’s FoodTech and Nutraceuticals
Groups will feature Cargill Food & Pharma
Specialties’ line of products including
Leciprime fluid lecithin and Lecigran deoiled
lecithin. Cargill is a proven leader in lecithin
marketing, logistics and identity preserved
supply chain solutions. “E.T. Horn is
one of the premier food ingredient distributors
in the U.S. We are excited to add E.T. Horn
to the Cargill Lecithin distribution network,"
said Creager Simpson, Cargill Food and Pharma
Specialties President.
Lecithin is derived from soybean processing.
In its liquid form lecithin is used as a natural
emulsifier. The deoiling process results in
powdered and granular lecithin. Lecithin is
used in a variety of foods as a blending agent,
dough stabilizer, and instantizing aid. It is
also an important ingredient in pharmaceuticals,
dietary supplements and cosmetics.
According
to the Freedonia Group, a leading international
business research firm, the $6.6 billion U.S.
soy products industry will grow 5.4 percent
annually through 2007. In the dominant food
sector, proven health benefits and a spate of
new products will spur strong gains in soy-based
beverages and nutraceuticals.
Under
the terms of this agreement, E.T. Horn will
represent the entire Cargill Lecithin product
line including: Lecigran, Lecisoy, Leciprime
and Lecisperce.
