Horn Company Inks Agreement with FMC BioPolymer

Mirada, CA – August 26, 2003
- The E.T. Horn Company, a leading distributor/supplier
of specialty chemical products, today announced
that it has entered into an agreement with FMC
BioPolymer to represent its line of specialty
food ingredients throughout the western United
States.
FMC
BioPolymer produces and develops custom blends
of carrageenan, alginate and microcrystalline
cellulose for specific gelling, thickening,
and stabilizing properties. Carrageenan, a naturally-occurring
family of carbohydrates, is extracted from red
seaweed. Alginate is a highly versatile biopolymer
extracted from brown seaweed and is used in
a wide range of food, pharmaceutical and specialty
applications. Avicel® microcrystalline cellulose
is derived from land plants and provides functionality
in a wide range of temperatures and imparts
superior freeze/thaw and heat stability to finished
food and nutritional products.
