Jim Berg has been in the food industry for the past 30 years. He joined the E.T. Horn Company in 2003 as Sr. Account Manager. Jim's area of strength is in the technical sales of hydrocolloids especially CMC, pectin, guar, locust bean gum and carrageenan. He was promoted to VP of Hydrocolloids and most recent promoted to VP Sales, overseeing the FoodTech Group.
He has worked for Hercules, AE Staley, New Zealand Milk Products, FMC and Danisco in a variety of positions including, Sales, Sales Management and Applications Management. He spent 14 years with a heavy focus on the dairy industry and especially the use of stabilizers and stabilizer blends in ice cream, dairy beverages and cultured products. This involved regular work in plant and pilot plant facilities to troubleshoot and assist in product improvement. As a result of his work with Danisco, Jim developed a better understanding of the functionality of emulsifiers in certain dairy and non dairy applications. All this experience has laid the foundation for Jim's growth and leadership.
Jim Berg holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from UCLA. He is a member of National IFT as well as the following local sections: NCIFT, Oregon IFT, Puget Sound IFT, Bonneville IFT and SCIFT where he is the current chair-elect and representative.
